The Socialist Party reacted to the decision by the Constitutional Court to repeal the lustration law adopted by the Berisha government. MP Ligori stated that this was the 17th case in the 4 years of Berisha’s government that the Constitutional Court has repealed laws that run counter to the country’s Constitution. MP Ligori expressed the readiness of the Socialist Party to contribute to the drafting of a new law, but she said that “The new law should first and foremost respect the Constitution and the recommendations of the Venice Commission. The investigation of the crimes of the past should not be used in order to cover the sins of the present.”
