Full and thorough investigation of the elections
The leader of the Socialist Party of Albania, Edi Rama, accompanied by the Chairman of the SPA National Assembly Gramoz Ruçi, took part in the first round of discussions organized by President of the Republic, Bamir Topi. After the talks, conducted behind closed doors, which lasted for three hours, Rama said that he had an open confrontation of views with Prime Minister Berisha.
“I am willing to try with all my strength and passion to achieve a successful solution, but, as I openly and very frankly told Mr. Berisha, I am not ready to accept a dialogue that drags on indefinitely. It is not that I do not have the patience for it. On the contrary, the problem is that the deepening of the crisis is becoming unsupportable for the Albanians and the opposition does not represent my interests, but those of the Albanian people.
Following the second meeting conducted with the President, Gramoz Ruçi informed the media on further details of the meeting, and once more explained that the demand of the Socialist Party for an investigation of the elections is completely legal and in compliance with the Constitution.
“This meeting was held following the dialogue that has started some days ago. Mr. Rama emphasized once more to the President that the Socialist Party is determined to implement the PACE Resolution, and especially point 7 of said resolution, which calls for two things: first for an inquiry committee in accordance with the Constitution and the verdict of the Constitutional Court and secondly, for the return of the opposition to Parliament” ... read more |

OSSH using electricity bills to steal from Albanians
Socialist MP Erion Braçe has once again criticized the Albanian government for the energy price rise. Braçe noted that this price rise had been planed long ago, but it had been kept secret by the Albanian government. He went on to accuse the OSSH that by applying the new prices even before January 1st 2010 when the price rise was supposed to go in effect, it is not just forcing Albanians to pay more, but it is also stealing from them. “They are not just being robed, but they are also defenseless. Electricity bills constitute executive titles. If you do not pay them you can become subject to a penal investigation. But what happens if executive titles are used to rob you?” Braçe said ... read more

Government’s borrowing, clear proof of economic mismanagement
Socialist MP Mimi Kodheli called the government’s practice of borrowing in order to pay off previous debts a practice that has no economic sense. According to Kodheli this practice clearly resembles the logic of the pyramid schemes, thus proving that the government is behaving in much the same way as the notorious pyramid boss Sude.
“There is no reason for the government to consider this further borrowing as a success, at a time when it is unable to show how this new debt will help Albania’s economy; a debt which will after all not be paid out of Berisha’s pocket, but our of the pockets of Albania’s citizens”
